Job Summary 

As a Diagnostic Technician at Frank Keane Volkswagen, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of all types of vehicles, particularly those from the Volkswagen brand. You will work with cutting-edge technology on the latest vehicle systems to ensure the safety, performance, and longevity of these vehicles. Please note applicants must be qualified as a motor technician to qualify for this position. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Training and Development: Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in electric, hybrid and ICE vehicle technology through training programs and certifications provided by Volkswagen or other relevant organizations.
  • Parts Ordering: Identify and order necessary parts and components for vehicle repairs, and manage inventory effectively.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards and meets Volkswagen's quality and safety requirements.
  • Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to explain diagnostic findings and repair recommendations, provide cost estimates, and answer any questions or concerns related to their vehicles.
  • Software and Firmware Updates: Stay up-to-date with the latest software and firmware updates for electric and hybrid vehicles, and ensure these updates are correctly installed.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all service and repair work performed, including diagnostic findings, parts used, and labor hours to ensure warranty procedures are adhered to.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines when working, ensuring the safety of both the technician and the vehicle.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and advanced repairs on electric, hybrid and ICE vehicles, including battery servicing, charging system checks, and powertrain component replacements.
  • Diagnostic Assessment: Conduct comprehensive diagnostic tests and inspections to identify issues relating to customer concerns to achieve a first time fix.


Requirements

  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with other technicians and service staff.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Safety Awareness: Demonstrated commitment to safety, with knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, in-depth knowledge of vehicle electrics and all vehicle systems..
  • Experience: Previous experience as a vehicle technician or diagnostic technician is essential. Volkswagen-specific experience is a plus.
  • Certifications: Qualified Diagnostic Technician from a recognized brand or training partner, VAG group a benefit but not essential.

Position Overview

As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will be involved in a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to become a proficient automotive technician. Under the guidance of experienced mechanics, you will learn to diagnose, repair, and maintain various types of vehicles. This position offers hands-on experience in a dynamic automotive repair environment as well manufacturer face to face training in Volkswagen Ireland Training Academy.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Learning and Development:
    • Participate actively in training sessions and on-the-job learning opportunities.
    • Acquire knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical components.
    • Understand the proper usage of diagnostic tools and equipment.
    • Familiarize yourself with industry-standard repair procedures and techniques.
  • Assistance in Repair and Maintenance:
    • Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing mechanical issues and performing repairs.
    • Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
    • Observe and learn to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems efficiently.
    • Support the team in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working in the shop.
    • Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials and disposing of waste.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to automotive repair activities.
  • Customer Interaction:
    • Learn to communicate effectively with customers to understand their vehicle concerns.
    • Assist in providing accurate estimates for repair costs and timeframes.
    • Strive to deliver high-quality service and exceed customer expectation.

Career Path: Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship program, you will have the opportunity to transition into a full-time automotive technician role with increased responsibilities and compensation.

Due to increased demand from our customers Frank Keane Volkswagen are looking to recruit an experienced Service Advisor for our Dealership in Liffey Valley. Reporting to the Service Manager, this important and demanding role is critical to the smooth running of our Aftersales Department as we strive for a 5-Star Service for our customers along their journey. 

Job Summary 

As a Service Advisor you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and managing the servicing and maintenance needs of our customers. You will act as a liaison between our customers and the service department to ensure a smooth and efficient service process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Opportunities: Identify potential upsell opportunities for service packages, extended warranties, and accessories.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and organised service records, including customer information, vehicle details, service history, and repair orders.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Billing and Invoicing: Prepare and explain invoices to customers, collecting payments, and handling any warranty claims or issues.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all service and repair work is performed to Volkswagen's quality and safety standards.
  • Parts Ordering: Order necessary parts and materials to ensure timely completion of service or repair jobs.
  • Communication: Keep customers informed of the progress of their service or repair work, including any unexpected delays or additional repairs required.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct vehicle inspections and document the condition of the customer's vehicle. Share findings with customers and prioritise necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Service Estimates: Provide customers with accurate and transparent cost estimates for service and repairs, including parts, labour, and potential additional charges.
  • Service Scheduling: Schedule service appointments and manage loan vehicles, if necessary, to accommodate customer needs and dealership capacity.
  • Service Recommendations: Communicate vehicle issues and service recommendations to customers, including required repairs, preventive maintenance, and suggested services.
  • Customer Interaction: Greet and assist customers, understand their service needs and provide recommendations based on the manufacturer's guidelines and the vehicle's condition.
  • Sales Opportunities: Identify potential upsell opportunities for service packages, extended warranties, and accessories.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Service Advisor role is desirable.
  • CDK / Keyloop (Kerridge) experience is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software and service management systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's licence
